How to update PU20

Step 1: Download PU20 from LCS

Step 2: Copy to a folder that is close to the root. When we run the command, there are going to be many subfolders with long path, the command might fail due to long path. To be safe, I copy to Temp folder like below

Step 3: Run cmd as Admin and use this command “AxupdateInstaller.exe quickInstall

Step 4: Run “Axupdateinstaller.exe list” command to validate

Enjoy

COC : try/catch/finally

In D365 F&O Platform Update 21 Microsoft has finally made it possible to use try/catch/finally in chain-of-command methods around the next statement

So, this construct is now available:
{

// <-Set up some globals or save off and change some table fields values temporarily

try
{
next ; // <- This was not allowed previously as the rule was that next had to be outside of any blocks—a first-level statement

}
finally
{

// <–Reset globals and/or restore table field values that were temporarily changed

}

}

Without this, it was not possible to guarantee the cleanup since an exception would bypass the remainder of the method.

LCS – Issue search can’t find other AX versions

Issue

I went to LCS to find whether or not an issue is a bug recently. No matter what I tried in the search box, it only returned results for AX7. I was looking for an in issue in R3. Where are the other versions? I used to be able to filter under PRODUCT. I was so frustrated because I used to be able to filter by the PRODUCT category.

image

Solution

This is the url after I searched
https://fix.lcs.dynamics.com/Issue/Results/1182525?q=AX2012&x=25&y=10&v=1&i=2_1_3_4&ct=1_3_5_4_2_6&ft=1_2_3&cu=&pi=&pm=&pc=

Then I changed it to
https://fix.lcs.dynamics.com/Issue/Results/

Now I’m able to search with anything with different product versions.

Publishing your ISV Solution on the Azure Marketplace

I found this webcast is very interesting. It is short about 30’ but it gives you an idea how Azure marketplace is an important concept. It is going to be a dominant way that that people look for and find solutions around AX. Microsoft is really moving toward having ISVs get their solution to Azure market place. If you are an ISV, you can get your visibility by publishing your solution. It is an easy way that people can come in do some inquires, read some descriptions, etc to know about your solution. Check it out here:
