Label does not update after updating a hotfix

04 Dec

When I installed CU7 to my Ax2012R2 environment,  label did not update correctly and this bothered me so much. What I did to fix this is

  1. Stop the AOS
  2. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics AX\50\Application\Appl\[Instance Name].
  3. Delete all *.ald files. The ALD files “Application Label Data”
  4. Start the AOS

Don’t do this prior to 2012! 🙂 Great tip, thanks!

I’m curious to what CU you came from when installing CU7.

I tend to shut down all the AOSes prior to upgrading, just to make sure there are alive sessions, and also to make sure any caching is flushed out.

Since the labels in AX2012 still have some remnants from pre-AX2012, I can only assume that label files still behave like they did before – they might not be written properly back to disk when updated.
I just did an upgrade from CU6 to CU7 this week and didn’t have to explicitly delete the label files.

Anyway – nice blog. Added to my reading list! 😀

It was installing CU7 to my vanilla VM AX2012R2. This rules out all other variables such as no customization, no other users besides me, etc. I have ran your blog in the past and it is definitely one of my favorites. It’s my pleasure to have you added
